Here's what you need to know |
- Urgent: Protect Head Start Programs! Congress must pass the full FY25 budget by March 14, or Head Start programs face devastating cuts. Without adequate funding, classrooms may close, staff could be furloughed, and families will lose essential services. Take action NOW! It takes just one minute to send a letter to your Members of Congress using NHSA’s electronic letter tool. Every message counts, and you can send one every day! Click here to download flyer to print and post in visible areas like entrances or policy council rooms to spread the word. Your advocacy can make a real difference.
- As a Community Partner in this year's event, FHSA invites you to celebrate the 30th annual Children's Week in Tallahassee from April 13 to 18, 2025. This event is an exceptional opportunity to meet with local Legislators and advocate for Head Start. Last year alone, Head Start programs helped 3,758 Florida children transition to kindergarten healthier, better prepared, and more confident. Please take this survey to tell us how you plan to participate.
- The Department of Education Division of Early Learning will host a rules workshop on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM ET. The workshop will cover requirements for VPK providers on probation or with incomplete designations, improvement plans, and good cause exemptions. Revisions will include changes from House Bills 419 (2021) and 5101 (2024), consolidating Rules 6M-8.603, 6M-8.605, and 6M-8.701, F.A.C. Forms for corrective actions will also be developed.
Please visit our WYNTK resource webpage, for archived WYNTK and FHSA events for more information. If there is something else you need guidance on, let us know - we are happy to connect with you and learn how FHSA can serve you better.
Sincerely,
Wanda Minick Executive Director FHSA
